Brand Positioning Services for Tech Companies

Overall

We research your market, define what makes your brand different, and build the position that holds up in a competitive space

Embacy provides brand positioning services for fintech, Web3 and crypto, and ed-tech companies from 40+ countries. We work with companies at the moment when they need to articulate exactly what makes their brand different: for the first time, before a funding round, or when entering a new market.

Our approach combines competitive market research with your team's knowledge of the product. We do not work with marketing or business strategy: we take what you know, add our own research into your competitive landscape, and translate the result into a precise brand position that becomes the foundation for your identity, your messaging, and every design decision that follows.

Process

How we define your brand position

Briefing

We start by immersing ourselves in your product: who you are, what you offer, and what you want your audience to feel when they encounter your brand. We look for a deep understanding of your values and goals: not from a marketing strategy perspective, but from a brand perspective. This is where we align on what success looks like before any research begins.

Market research

Once we understand your brand, we map the competitive landscape: who else is in your market, how they position themselves, and where the gaps are. Competitor analysis at this stage is not about copying what works: it is about finding the positioning territory that is genuinely available to you and has not been claimed by others.

Client workshop

We bring our research findings to a working session with your team. This is where your product knowledge and our market research meet: we test positioning hypotheses, challenge assumptions, and arrive at the position that is both true to your brand and distinct in your market. You have access to our Figma throughout.

Elaboration and delivery

We refine the positioning based on your feedback until it is precise and genuinely useful as a foundation for brand identity. The final deliverable is a clarified brand position: a defining idea, a differentiated territory, and the logic that holds it together.

When you need it

When brand positioning makes a difference

You are launching and need to define your position before building the brand

You have a product and a market, but you have not yet decided how your brand should be perceived: what makes it different, who it is for, and what it stands for.

What you’ll get:

Positioning at this stage prevents expensive mistakes: without a clear position, every design decision is a guess.

You are a B2B company and need positioning that speaks to a specific professional audience

B2B brand positioning is different from consumer positioning. Your audience is smaller, the decision cycle is longer, and trust and credibility matter more than being memorable.

What you’ll get:

Positioning that communicates the right level of expertise to a demanding business audience.

You are entering a new market or raising a round and need to sharpen your position

You already have a brand, but you are expanding into new geographies or need to present a sharper story to investors.

What you’ll get:

Refining and focusing what already exists: not starting over.

FAQ

From brief to launch — questions we hear most

  • What is included in brand positioning services?

A briefing and immersion in your product and goals, competitive market research to identify the positioning territory available to you, a working session with your team to test and refine positioning hypotheses, and a final deliverable: a clarified brand position with a defining idea and the logic that holds it together.

  • Do you work with marketing or business strategy?

No. We do not develop marketing strategies, go-to-market plans, or business strategy. We rely on your team's expertise in those areas. Our work sits at the intersection of market research and branding.

  • What is the difference between brand positioning and brand identity?

Brand positioning defines what your brand stands for and how it is differentiated in the market. Brand identity is the visual and verbal expression of that positioning: the logo, color palette, typography, and tone of voice. Positioning comes first.

  • How long does brand positioning work take?

Brand positioning typically runs as the first phase of a branding project and takes one to two sprints depending on the complexity of the competitive landscape and how defined your product direction already is.

  • Do you work with early-stage startups or only established companies?

Both. For early-stage startups, positioning work often happens before the brand identity is built. For established companies, it typically happens in the context of a rebrand, a market expansion, or a funding round where the existing position needs to be sharpened.

  • Can brand positioning be delivered as a standalone project?

Yes. Positioning can be delivered as a standalone output. That said, most clients continue into brand identity work immediately after, since the positioning is the foundation on which the identity is built.
